FBI Director Robert S. Mueller (Photo credit: Stephanie Woodrow)
The New York Times has announced The FBI‘s long awaited computer system has hit the wall again. Unbelievable! The Judiciary Report’s sister site, the Sound Off Column, wrote a series of articles beginning in June 2006, www.soundoffcolumn.com/june_06.htm warning of future trouble with the FBI’s planned computer system.
The Sound Off Column even detailed methods of creating and implementing a computer system for the FBI that was a mere fraction of the cost being tossed around in Congress and would require far less time.
America has some of the biggest computer companies in the world, yet Mueller has the nation’s main law enforcement agency looking like they start fires with rocks and sticks, instead of matches.
Four years after the Sound Off Column articles, warning the FBI to change course in how it announced it would go about acquiring a computer system and $1 billion dollars later in taxpayer money and the FBI’s computer system is delayed once again with more problems cropping up.
The Sound Off Column warned the system would be useless if it was implemented over years, rather than weeks or a few short months, as the speed of technology is as such, one year down the road, manufacturers will have released their latest innovations, making older models obsolete.
However, site reader, FBI Director Robert S. Mueller, clearly thinks he knows more than me about computers, when he nearly fell for an identity theft scam via an email link he nearly clicked, thus he went about the computer system the long and wrong way. Now they are sitting on scrap metal, er, I mean outdated computers, with old operating systems and slower peripherals, much of which have not even been implemented.
I have a bridge I’d like to sell Mueller, because he is just that gullible that he would buy just about anything. This wouldn’t be so sad if the country was not facing an unprecedented rise in terrorism, both domestically and internationally.
Having a great, cutting edge computer system, makes a big difference in law enforcement matters. Technology can be used to prevent crime and boost productivity, but some people just don’t grasp that. Robert S. Mueller is one of those people. Hence, the FBI being so slow and inefficient with cases, even when people’s lives are at stake.
Side Bar: you still haven’t accounted for hundreds of millions of dollars from the computer system money that went missing and was labeled “miscellaneous.” Do we have to guess which off shore accounts that embezzled taxpayer money is sitting in. You better be glad I’m not President, because your butt would be in prison.
Massive FBI computer overhaul is put on ice (again)Carrier pigeons still viable
http://www.theregister.co.ukPublished: March 18, 2010 – WASHINGTON — The Federal Bureau of Investigation has suspended work on parts of its huge computer overhaul, dealing the agency the latest costly setback in a decade-long effort to develop a modernized information system to combat crime and terrorism.
F.B.I. Faces New Setback in Computer Overhaul
The overhaul was supposed to be completed this fall, but now will not be done until next year at the earliest. The delay could mean at least $30 million in cost overruns on a project considered vital to national security, Congressional officials said…
The officials said the decision to suspend work on other parts of the program reflected the lessons learned from previous setbacks. When Lockheed Martin won the contract, the F.B.I. ended the previous computer overhaul and started over because the problems had grown too big to fix.
Robert S. Mueller III, director of the F.B.I., acknowledged problems in the project when he was asked about it at a House appropriations hearing on Wednesday…
While the F.B.I. described the problems as a minor setback, Congressional officials said they were alarmed.
Posted in Government, 19th March 2010 20:35 GMT – The FBI has once again suspended work on parts of a massive computer overhaul that many say is vital to fighting crime and terrorism.
Putting the project known as Sentinel on hold has alarmed some on Capitol Hill because the upgrade was considered vital to shoring-up deficiencies in key areas, The New York Times reports. Several years ago, FBI computer systems were so poor that many agents couldn’t send or receive email and had difficulty getting case histories or tapping other databases.
Following the September 11 terrorist attacks, agents in Florida had to send their counterparts in Washington, DC, photographs of the hijackers by overnight mail because they couldn’t send email attachments.
N. Korea Begins Dismantling Nuclear Program
North Korea is engaging in disarmament talks with America and as a symbol of their intentions, destroyed a component of their nuclear program. It’s a beginning and hopefully the talks will continue to be fruitful.
North Korea’s economy has been struggling, but further diplomatic talks could lead to good things in enabling them to adequately feed their people.
SEOUL — North Korea said Friday it won’t take further steps to dismantle its nuclear program until the U.S. and its other negotiating partners award fuel oil and political benefits promised under an aid-for-disarmament deal.
The North Korean Foreign Ministry said in a statement it has disabled 80% of its main nuclear complex, but countries involved in six-nation disarmament talks have only made 40% of the energy shipments promised to the North.

The U.S. economy continues to worsen on weakening numbers. Once again oil has gone up, the dollar gone down, the DOW plummeted, the markets are volatile and more jobs have been lost:
U.S. Loses 62,000 Jobs, Jobless Rate Holds at 5.5% (Update2)
July 3 (Bloomberg) — U.S. employers cut jobs in June for a sixth consecutive month as soaring fuel prices and a slowing economy forced companies to reduce costs.
Payrolls fell by 62,000, close to economists’ median forecast, after a 62,000 drop in May that was greater than initially reported, the Labor Department said today in Washington. The jobless rate remained at 5.5 percent after jumping in May by the most in two decades.
Oil hits new record above $145
Oil soars to record near $146 amid concerns over hefty drop in US stockpiles, Iran conflict
Oil prices briefly soared to a record near $146 a barrel Thursday, then eased when the European Central Bank did not signal more rate hikes and a report showed unemployment in the United States has continued to climb.
This is a follow up to yesterday’s article Stolen Nuclear Bomb Plans Sold On Black Market. Today, scientist, A.Q. Khan, denied reports coming out of Washington that stated he sold stolen nuclear warhead blueprints to factions in the Middle East.
While I think he knows more than he is saying, one would be able to rule out all other culprits, save for the fact that high ranking U.S. government officials in Washington, also illegally sold nuclear bomb plans to parties in the Middle East, such as Turkey.
There were closed hearings in Congress regarding it with many credible newspapers lambasting FBI headquarters for trying to cover it up and not prosecuting the offenders. Not to mention, Robert Mueller’s predecessor at the FBI, the now incarcerated, Robert Hansen, was spying for Russia for 20 years.
Sidebar: FBI headquarters is not good at covering things up. FBI headquarters is like the CIA’s idiot cousin that keeps dropping the ball when you throw it to him (hence 9/11 and 7/7 happening). That’s why the public always finds out the FBI’s business, sometimes, without even trying (*looking at the EFF and the ACLU*).
You know, like trying to look all official in putting out redacted documents when there is software on the market than can un-redact it. Stuff like that (LOL). Or the head of the FBI, Robert Mueller, going into Congress asking for tools they already gave him.
It’s all quite sad, as the FBI has the potential to do a great amount of good in America, especially with some of the dedicated agents it has, but the corrupt agenda that trickles down from headquarters is constantly disgracing and humiliating the FBI as a whole…and the press is always there to capture it for posterity.
With proper leadership the agency could really kick butt, but with headquarters in chaos under Mueller’s poor stewardship, bad things are going to keep happening, for which excuses will continue to be made to Congress. The American people deserve more than that for the billions a year in their tax dollars given to the agency.
Pakistan’s Khan denies selling advanced nuke blueprint
Jun 17 03:52 AM US/Eastern – Pakistani scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan on Tuesday denied selling blueprints for an advanced nuclear weapon to Iran or North Korea, telling AFP that Western countries were to blame…
“This is all a lie, there is no truth in this. It is total bulls**t,” Khan told AFP by telephone from his Islamabad villa, where he has been kept under house arrest since confessing to proliferation activities in 2004.
“The Western countries are suppliers of the technology, they sold it, they are the proliferators…. Why don’t they publish juicy stories about Israel. There is not a single word about Israel on the nuclear issue,” he added.
Boeing Scientist Charged with Mishandling Govt. Info
June 16, 2008 – A former Boeing scientist who specialized in anti-missile systems for aircrafts was charged in federal court today with the unlawful retention of national defense information. Abraham Lesnik will plead guilty to the charge, his lawyer Marc Harris told ABCNews.com.
Agents in the FBI’s foreign intelligence unit opened a criminal investigation into Lesnik in 2006 after questions were raised as to whether or not classified information ended up in the hands of unauthorized individuals, including foreigners.
Rogue Scientist A.Q. Khan Allegedly Sold Stolen Nuclear Warhead Blueprints To Dangerous Factions
June 16. 2008
Doc Brown He Is Not! (Dr. A.Q. Khan)
Pakistani scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan, who is under house arrest, is being accused of selling stolen, sophisticated nuclear weapons blueprints to dangerous parties in the Middle East.
Doc “1.21 gigawatz” Brown (Back to the Future)
The information was discovered on computers “belonging to the smuggling network” A.Q. Khan is said to be head of. Washington is not sure who Khan sold the plans to, but are concerned at the news, as several entities in the region have been producing more sophisticated weapons, resembling the swiped blueprints.
Nuclear weapons often contain uranium or plutonium (you know, stuff that ends in “ium”). I saw a photo of plutonium and it was in the form of a cylindrical, metal object.
Being the brilliant scientific mind I am I thought to myself that can’t be plutonium. In the movie “Back to the Future” it was in liquid form and in vials. That thing (pictured below) looks like a discus (though I wouldn’t advise you throwing it):
Then I scrolled down some more and there were the vials of plutonium -just like in Back To The Future. Where’s Doc Brown when you need him.
Seriously, this news is quite alarming, especially in light of how negligent the government can be in matters of national security.
Nuclear ring reportedly had advanced design
Published: June 15, 2008 – WASHINGTON: American and international investigators say that they have found the electronic blueprints for an advanced nuclear weapon on computers that belonged to the nuclear smuggling network run by Abdul Qadeer Khan, the rogue Pakistani nuclear scientist, but that they have not been able to determine whether they were sold to Iran or the smuggling ring’s other customers.
Observers: Suicide Or Foul Play?
In a case that has left many online speculating if there was foul play, a controversial DC madam, Deborah Jeane Palfrey, that threatened to expose a lot of well-known politicians, died today, two months before she was set to be sentenced for crimes she was convicted of in the sex trade.
Her lifeless body was found in her trailer park home in Tarpon Springs, Florida. How did a madam that ran a high earning prostitution ring end up living in a trailer park, you ask? My guess is legal fees. Those criminal cases spawn massive legal fees.
Deborah Jeane Palfrey proclaimed before her death that she believed she would be the victim of a staged suicide or other foul play with the goal of silencing her.
She further stated that she would not commit suicide.
DC Madam Predicted She Would Be Suicided
“Rape, beating, maiming, disfigurement and more than likely murder disguised in the form of just another jailhouse accident or suicide would await me,” Palfrey wrote – Time Magazine curiously quick to re-affirm suicide story
Click here to listen to Palfrey clearly state that she would not commit suicide.
DC Madam Deborah Jeane Palfrey predicted she would be “suicided” on several occasions both recently and as far back as 17 years ago – comments that now appear ominous in light of the announcement that the former head of a Washington escort service allegedly killed herself today.
DC Madam Commits Suicide in Florida
Authorities were called today to the Sun Valley Estates Mobile Home Park in Tarpon Springs, Fla., by 76-year-old Blanche Palfrey, who found her daughter’s body hanging by a nylon rope shortly before 11 a.m., Tarpon Springs police Capt. Jeffrey P. Young said at a news conference. He said Deborah Palfrey left at least two suicide notes, but he declined to discuss their content
Palfrey ran her business, Pamela Martin & Associates, by telephone from her California home, and authorities said she grossed about $2 million from 1993 to 2006, splitting the money about evenly with her escorts. They said she employed at least 132 women over the years, dispatching them nightly to clients in homes and hotel rooms in the Washington area.
The recent conviction was not Palfrey’s first dust-up with the law. She was convicted of running a prostitution ring in California 17 years ago and spent 18 months in jail.
