Today, the web site Politico revealed that in 1995 Hillary Clinton supporter Geraldine Ferraro made race based comments about Jesse Jackson, much like she did this week regarding presidential candidate Barack Obama, causing an uproar. She resigned from the Clinton campaign today.

Previously, she stated, “If Jesse Jackson were not black, he wouldn’t be in the race.” Old habits die hard, but not harder than those shoulder pads in that photo posted above. Ah, the 80’s. Sometimes I miss it and sometimes I don’t.

Hillary Clinton supporter Geraldine Ferraro said the only reason rival Barack Obama has gotten as far as he has in the presidential election is because he’s black.

Wow, that’s the first time I’ve ever heard anyone say the only reason you got ahead in America is because you’re black. That comment is hilarious.

By the way, get over it Geraldine, Obama just won Mississippi, while Hillary won, well, another loss. Have a good day and hurry up before you miss roll call at the next klan rally.

Race has become too much of an issue for some in this election and it needs to stop. Being black, white, Hispanic or Asian never qualified or disqualified anyone for a job in politics. Competence and credibility are what counts, not color.

Obama aide Susan Rice called for Clinton to fire Geraldine Ferraro, the only woman yet to run on a major party’s presidential ticket, after her comments Friday to a Los Angeles newspaper.

“That’s a really outrageous and offensive comment,” Rice said on MSNBC television after Ferraro, who sits on Clinton’s finance committee, had said: “If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position.”
