American Idol Getting Bashed As “Fake”

The Bad Publicity That Will Not Go Away

May 5. 2008

People are really laying into the show calling it everything from “fake” to “rigged.” Many are now questioning its future. It’s like watching the franchise evaporate before our very eyes:

Abdul’s Folly Raises Questions of Show’s Authenticity

Some “American Idol” fans and critics are crying foul after judge Paula Abdul said on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show Wednesday that she saw contestant Jason Castro sing during a dress rehearsal and that’s part of the reason she got confused when she critiqued him.

Abdul’s admission, which some argued supports the idea that the show is scripted and that the judges peek at performances before their live debuts, came in response to her Tuesday night blunder in which she evaluated a song Castro hadn’t even sung. Abdul’s folly was the latest in a string of bizarre incidents since she’s been on the show.

Can ‘American Idol’ survive Abdul’s slip?

May 4, 2008 - “American Idol” is a fraud. That’s what people are speculating, after Paula Abdul’s widely talked about “Idol” gaffe on Tuesday night. To which I say, Duh.

Come on, people, we’ve known for years that “Idol” isn’t really a completely democratic music appreciation show. There’s got to be loads of behind-the-scenes manipulation going on. There just hasn’t been that much hard proof.

Tuesday’s bizarre blunder doesn’t constitute concrete evidence either, but it’s as close as we’ve come, and it may be enough to bring things crashing down.

Paula Abdul’s Gaffe Sends Ratings Tanking Further

The television show American Idol has been experiencing a ratings slide. The show that once pulled in 33 million viewers, is down to 22 million per week this year.

After Paula Abdul’s gaffe a few days ago, they lost over 1 million more viewers:

“Idol” slide continues after judge mix-up

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - A night after Tuesday’s much-discussed on-air blunder by “American Idol” judge Paula Abdul, the results show of the talent show lost 1.2 million viewers from the previous week.

With “Idol” (22.1 million viewers vs. 23.3 million) already having dropped in nearly every episode in recent weeks, however, that means the reality show has once again hit a five-year low. A year ago, the show averaged 29 million viewers.

On Tuesday’s episode, a last-minute procedural change resulted in the judges critiquing contestants’ first round of performances instead of waiting until the end of the second round. Abdul gave a negative review of contestant Jason Castro’s two songs.

The only problem: Castro had sung only one song.

ENTERTAINMENT Paula Abdul’s Blunder Provokes Cries American Idol Is Rigged

Paula Abdul

The television show American Idol has been faced with one problem after another. Their ratings have taken a major dip this season. Could the nation finally be tired of idolatry.

This week, Paula Abdul caused controversy with comments she made live on the air. Two weeks ago, former contestant, Carmen Rasmusen, told the press the show is rigged. Some called it sour grapes, but others didn’t.

Paula Abdul’s conduct this week is only serving to affirm those claims. A few days ago, live on the air, Paula Abdul, reading from a card, complimented the first performance by a contestant, but slammed the second one. There’s just one problem. He only performed one song. As a result, critics and audiences all over the internet are now proclaiming the show is rigged.

Mariah Carey Tanked American Idol Ratings

When Crazy People Get The Microphone

Says She’d “Feel Violated Having Kids”

Carey Kills Idol Ratings

Mariah Carey tanked American Idol’s ratings. The show has been in decline and she solidify that. The mere fact that she drove down American Idol ratings makes you wonder if another Jay-Z style record sales fraud took place with her new CD. Those numbers look suspect, especially with such a weak lead single.

She is on the same label that got into trouble with Soundscan for bribing retailers to scan through one unit of an album several times to fraudulently inflate sales.

Last week’s performance show, featuring the songs of Mariah Carey, one of the most successful pop singers in history, was the lowest-rated Tuesday “Idol” in five years among TV’s most important demographic, adults ages 18 to 49. The subsequent results show, in which country warbler Kristy Lee Cook got the hook, delivered “Idol’s” worst Wednesday numbers among adults ages 18 to 34 since its first season back in summer 2002.

Producers also saw depressed ratings for their “Idol Gives Back” charity extravaganza, which this year aired as a stand-alone show with no competition-related material.”

She Doesn’t Want Kids

Regarding childbearing, the selfish, self-absorbed singer said having kids would make her feel violated. Yes, you read that right. Her publicist was probably smoking weed and didn’t catch that statement in time to stop it. What kind of thing is that to say about kids:

But in a somewhat bizarre explanation, the singer has claimed that having children would leave her feeling ‘violated’. “I never wanted to feel violated and I know that’s a kind of weird thing to say, but that’s how I am.”

Humidifiers

What is this craziness with you needing 20 humidifiers. While your voice has changed since your “Music Box” album to a whisper sound, rather than the strong vocals you debuted with, which may explain the humidifiers, that’s just excessive. If you need that many humidifiers it’s time to see a throat specialist:

But perhaps her greatest moment of diva madness came during a trip in 2005 when at 2am she refused to check in to her hotel until a red carpet and scented candles lined the entrance.

I’ll have 20 humidifiers around the bed,” she revealed. “Basically, it’s like sleeping in a steam room. The bed is all towelling cloth, the ceiling is sloped so the water can’t fall on my head. My TV is behind glass.”

Taking Too Much Credit

Taking Too Much Credit

When None Is Deserved At All

Mozart - A Historic Victim Of Song Jacking

For centuries, frauds have sought to take credit for music they did not author. It didn’t begin with modern day fraudulent artists like Madonna and Beyonce. It’s something that’s been happening for quite some time. A look back if you will…

Mozart rocking the historic Jeri Curl: those thieves stealing my music wish their curls were as tight as mine:

In 1791, a rich wannabe, Franz Count von Walsegg, commissioned “Requiem” from a then struggling composer named, Mozart, then tried to pass it off as his own work.

This so called nobleman wasn’t noble at all, as he had a contemptible track record of stealing other people’s music by recopying the original sheet music in his own handwriting, then playing it for audiences, taking credit as the composer. By all accounts, he was an untalented hack of a musician as well. Ah yes, the granddaddy of the lip-syncers.

Mozart: I have a building named after me with my wig featured in music books all over the globe - what does Countie boy have:

To those of you who know what Requiem by Mozart sounds like when played properly, just imagine it being performed by someone that got yanked off the stage at the Apollo or sent off on American Idol, while claiming they actually wrote the rip off.

For another modern day example, imagine what “Respect” would have sounded like had sticky fingers Madonna stole it and performed it live and Aretha Franklin hadn’t recorded it. Ok, that’s what Franz Count von Walsegg did.

Franz Count von Walsegg probably didn’t fathom Mozart would become so successful in the future or he probably wouldn’t have stolen his work, as this is all he is known for today. History reversed itself and in an ugly way.

Frankie Lymon And The Teenagers

Many of you know the 50’s hit song “Why Do Fools Fall In Love.” Not only was it a hit in the 50’s, it has been licensed and remade many times since its initial release. So much so that the song earned $4,000,000 in royalties that a dishonest music manager, Morris Levy, kept for himself by unlawfully taking credit as the writer of the song. It spawned a big court case and was featured in a movie of the same name starring Halle Berry.

The initial release of the song “Why Do Fools Fall In Love” did not bear Levy’s name as a songwriter, but he deceitfully added it later to collect money that was not due to him after Frankie Lymon’s untimely death from a drug overdose.

Lymon never received a dime in songwriter’s royalties and died broke, while crooked Morris Levy lived in the lap luxury with $4,000,000 in ill gotten gain. That’s an accurate picture of the entertainment industry for you - and one that Congress to this day has left unregulated.

It is really hypocritical when you see frauds like Edgar Bronfman jr and others in Congress spouting off about issues affecting them, while they rob, rape and pillage artists who are mostly minorities. What does that say about Congress as well that they entertain such fools criminals.

Guy

Guy (left) Gene Griffin (right)

In the late 80’s R&B band Guy became famous with a string of hits such as “Groove Me,” “Teddy’s Jam” and “Round And Round.” They sold 5 million albums and lead member and producer Teddy Riley went on to produce music for other artists such as Bobby Brown.

Guy

However, due to the questionable production deal he signed with producer Gene Griffin, pictured above, Riley lost a lot of money. I remember a show on BET years ago that featured Riley.

In it he complained that Griffin allegedly did not write the Bobby Brown megahit “My Prerogative,” but put his name on the song anyway as co-writer with Teddy and Bobby, collecting $800,000 in royalties that didn’t belong to him.

Teddy Riley

Riley stated he wrote the song and Bobby Brown co-wrote it, then Gene deceitfully etched his name to it, collecting Teddy’s money. He ended their production deal shortly after, parting ways with Griffin. Riley went on to produce many hit records after that, while Gene’s career fizzled.
